  1. Am I the only one having this problem ?!
I'm pissed as hell !! I have a Sony dru500 and i'm using some MMORE dvd-r media without making a "coaster", burned more than 30... tried other media discs like TDK and Primedisc and I'm having the same problem. In the begining I was using Nero, now Record Now and right after the burn I can see the movies without ANY problem until the end of it, but 2 or 3 days after that same discs start to fail around the midle of the disc. This hapends in several dvd players, my Mustek is the one that fails less .
Can anyone explain to me why does this hapends ? Is it heating ?
    Thanks.

  2. I am sort of having the same problem. They were my wedding video presentations. Two different no name brand happened to two different friends (I wasn't there). They haven't try to play them again. They worked fine at least two times (I tested them). I wonder if it is the media or they are more suspectable to dirt. I have the same Sony DRU-500A drive.

  3. I wonder if the problem can be caused by the heating of the player when reading...
I'm going to try several media types again and teste them to HELL to see if it hapends more with this MMORE.
Have 3 copys of Ice Age that between 50 and 60 minuts start to pixelizing and then stops.

  4. i have mintek 1600 dvd player, the best dvd player in teh 50 dollar price range.

plays svcd, vcd, mp3, dvd-r, and other stuff cds such as music cds, cd-r.

    i use princo and verbatim.

just last month or so, they played fine, they did not skip or anything.

now when i play them, the introductions are skipping on me. i'm thinking it's my dvd player, but when i played the real movie dvd it played fine.

the dvd-r movies i made were skipping on me, something that never happened back a few months ago when they were just freshly made.

    i'm just disappointed.

i guess dvd-r media and dvd recorders are still not as good as cd recorders, probably gonna take a few years before they can make those things perfect.

  5. I am using AO4 to burn TV shows on various OEM DVD-r only 1x unfortunately. My kid will play the same few discs for months, sometime the same disc the whole day. It remains OK.
Did you place any stickers on it? I had the problem when I did that before.
