Hey folks, i was wondering if anybody has had this problem before with Premiere 6-6.02 (i upgraded to see if it would help, but the problem still persists).

Basically when i import footage into the project window, its not registering the footage as a movie, it only imports the audio. The files are mpeg2's and it doesn't seem to be doing it with any other format. I'm able to import mpegs, mov's, avi's, etc and they'll register. Its only mpeg2's for some reason. I've tried dragging the footage down to the timeline to see if it would work, but its just audio. I'm able to watch the footage outside of premiere (like in Windows Media Player, etc) and it plays fine.

I tried importing the footage into After Effects as well, and its not registering it either. I uploaded some footage and made it into a VCD compliant mpeg and Premiere will read it. So i took that file and made it into an mpeg2 and upon finishing the export (when Premiere will open up the file after its done encoding), it just brings up the audio.

I tried using the different presets that are available at start up and it appears that DV Playback for NTSC (Standard 48hz) will load the file. DV Playback for PAL (standard 46hz) works. The Multimedia for Windows and Quicktime will NOT load the file (just the audio, as mentioned earlier ). All of the other presets outside of the DV will not load the video, just the audio.

This is strange because i never had this problem before. I thought it was my capture device (ADS Instant DVD), but it didn't do this before and i was able to work with mpeg2's just fine.

    Any help is appreciated.

    Peace

Upgrading to 6.5 might help. I'm just thinking that it wont because even After Effects isn't recognizing the file. This is definitely perplexing.
