IBM says dont use Hyperthreading with dual xeons for most apps - even if hyperthreaded enabled .. unless you are running several (many) apps at once ..
rather strange - but whatever ..
i have a dual xeon 2.6 also, ibm intelistation (MSI board, as it one of the few boards approved for dps boards) , and get faster speeds than that for tmpgenc .. do you have a large cache enabled in tmpgenc for vbr 2 pass? i also just ordered a dual ibm xeon 3.0 w/ 533 buss and DDR memory -- be interisting to compare to the dual xeon 2.6 w/ rambus to DDR ..
