When I convert my avi files to mpeg 1 there's a distinct loss of image quality. I'm using Tmpgenc and the cbr option is activated. What would explain this ?
Thanks Muchly !!

Any reencoding will make the video quality worse. Try SVCD,CVD or XVCD if you want a bit better quality than VCD. But remember that, garbage in - garbage out.

The quality of the avi video is fine but the converted mpeg video is unwatchable, especially when transferred to vcd. I must be doing something wrong ?
