    This is the problem:
i have this DAT mv files, that are suppose to be vcd but i cannot play them on wmp. But it plays on winDVD. Then i tried to burn it as i usually do with the vcd option using NEro, but it ends up not liking the file.

I think this mv has some kind of protection or something. How can i get rid of this protection. So nero will no give me error when burnin to vcd.
Also i tried vcdgear to convert from DAT-> mpg but it gives me error.

PLZ reply me and if u want more details plz ask.
    Thanks

Are you sure it's from a VCD and not SVCD? Both will have a .dat file, but vcdgear will not work with SVCD.

Have you tried cdxa2mpeg? Unless the dat is actually damaged, it should be able to extract the mpg. VCDEasy gives you a front-end to it (and some other useful tools), cdxa2mpeg is under "MPEG Tools" in VCDEasy's "Tools" section.

  7. This must be the AVSEQ01.DAT file normally found in the MPEGAV folder of a VCD disc.
If you open it with Windows Media Player, it should play the video perfectly. I did that all the time.
You cannot burn it with Nero though.
This is how I do it:
Use TMPGEnc, select MPEG Tools, Cut/Join, Add (the .DAT file), specify the output to be something.MPG, then click RUN. TMPGEnc will convert the DAT into MPG file. This conversion is pretty quick, not as in AVI to MPG conversion.
The resulting MPEG file can be burned with Nero.
