  1. The DVD player I have does not read SVCDs (only VCDs). So I have been trying to convert an SVCD that I have to VCD. I initially tried the header trick, but the audio and video weren't synched. I'll admit I may have missed something doing that conversion, but I don't think so.

So, I decided to try and do the straight SVCD to VCD conversion using DVD2AVI and TMPGEnc. I am able to create the *.mpa, and *.v2d files using DVD2AVI, but that is where my problems begin. When I try to open the video file I get the following error message:

File "C:\Video Encode Temp\temp.d2v" can not open, or unsupported

When I go to the "TMPGEnc VFAPI Plugin" link from the "How to convert a SVCD or MPEG2/MP2 files to VCD, SVCD or DVD" page, that page tells me that version 2.59 (which is the one I have) has the VFAPI Plugin included. Also inside TMPGEnc under "Options -> Environmental Settings" there is a tab for VFAPI Plugin with a list of "Readers" and "Encoders" listed (and checked), so I think it IS installed, but it still won't read the *.d2v file.

If you have any ideas please let me know.

    Thanks,

    Britt

  2. Ok, I have gotten TMPGEnc so that I don't get the error when I try to open an MPEG2 file, however now the program locks up when I try to open an MPEG2 file. Also, I still can't open the *.d2v file created by DVD2AVI.

    Please HELP.

  3. Check that, I let TMPEGEnc sit long enought trying to open the MPEG2 file, and I still got the error, it just took a while.

    I still need help.

  4. From what you are saying, the only problem I can see is unable to open the
D2V project, now check before you reply, do you have DVD2AVI.VFP in the
SAME location as your TMPGEnc ?
