Hey,
The usual dvds you buy in a store have an adverage bitrate of what generaly? I wanted to know because I know there is a bitrate limit (Like with SVCDs) where it gets too low, which is a good indication you need to split it onto 2 CDs. Is there a general rule of thumb for an adverage bitrate you shouldn't go bellow before your DVD becomes poor looking?
For that matter are most dvd movies which are under or at 4.7 gigs constant bitrate or Variable? What Constent value do they use if so? And if its variable, what a good length movie?
I know some movies fit under or at 4.7 gigs, however I need to add stuff to them and re-encoded them. It would be nice to know what settings to use so that they fit fine, and still have the same quality.

i don't know what the exact range of bitrates are, but i know they vary quite a bit depending on the movie...but if i recall correctly, they say you shouldn't go below 3000-4000 i think

store discs, that is factory ones, now use vbr's
i use a 4000 standard, action gets messed up under
that...go with what u know -
My expierence with BitrateViewer indicates "most" movies are at 6000 average and 9800 maximum and always VBR.
