  1. I have been using pulldown.exe and basically just trying to use common sense when choosing the correct options, however, that may not be the right way, but I haven't had any problems as of yet fortunately. My question though is after I activate force film and use pulldown.exe to get my video back to 29.97 after the encode, what options should I use in pulldown.exe? I use the "GUI" and that was a journey itself. I had to hunt for info on the "comdlg32.ocx" file which Windows XP apparently doesn't have. Then I had to register it with the registry. Anyway, now that I can use that "GUI" for pulldown.exe, I generally just check a couple of the options. Most of my movies are "progressive" and there are a total of basically six options to check for pulldown.exe. They are 1) aspect ratio, 2) Frame Rate, 3) Drop Frame, 4) field order tff 5) All steam, and yes, it is spelled "steam" not "stream", is that a typo on the GUI? And 6) Each Frame. There are also three boxes to the far right which say "no pulldown" not recalculate timecode, no rff. I have never checked any of those three boxes, and I'm hoping that I didn't have to.

Anyway, would someone be able to tell me the correct options for
    a "progressive" movie using pulldown.exe?

Do I need to actually select an "aspect ratio" or does it do it automatically? I always select whatever the correct originial movie is anyway, but I keep reading on other forums that people use the "defaults." For Frame Rate, I select 29.97 because I figure that is what I want the movie to play at. For Drop Frame, I leave that at "none", but should I check "true" or "false?" For field order tff I leave at "none" but should I check "odd" or "even"? For all "steam" I check "progressive" and for each frame, I also check "progressive"? Are all of the options I am checking correct, or should I change any or all of them? Thanks in advance for any help with this.

  2. If you are using a 23.976 source, do not check any boxes. Just run Pulldown.exe and it will insert the flags.

  3. thanks for the response Faceman. I will do that. By selecting all of those other options as I did in the past, did I do anything that can affect the DVD-R? It seems to play perfectly. I'm just curious. If pulldown.exe doesn't need anything checked, why are there all of those options from choosing the aspect ratio to drop frames, etc?

  4. All depends on your source. Like sometimes when I encode DV footage I need to use Pulldown.exe to swap the fields but have no pulldown inserted.

Or if you encoded an MPEG and forgot to select 16:9 in CCE, you can do so in pulldown.exe.

All depends on the source file you know? A simple 23.976 to 29.976 needs no button pushing.

I find the GUI and pulldown.exe very useful.
