1. Rip entire movie with Smartripper (backup mode)
2. Use DVD2SVCD to reencode movie (make it small enough to fit with chapter data) use powerbit14 to calculate
3. Use Chapter Extractor to extract chapters from main movie chain of original DVD
4. Click the Format tab under Presets at the bottom
5. Select DVDMaestro
6. Click Save Data at the bottom and save the file as a DVDMaestro *.CHP file
7. run Pulldown if you have to
put Pulldown.exe in folder with files
go to cmd type in Pulldown project.mpv output.m2v -prog_frames p
8. Drag ac3 file and m2v into bottom right of DVDMaestro
9. Double click on Movie1
10. Load parsed m2v and ac3 into this
11. right click in the top to add chapter file .chp
12. click on compile
13. rename vob's from compile and replace them in the original DVD rip folder
14. open IFOUpdate
15. open original movie ifo file open authored ifo file
16. click update, get sectors, region free
17. double check in ifoedit to make sure resolution is 16:9 if it is supposed to be
18. make AUDIO_TS and VIDEO_TS folders
19. burn with Nero or make image to test using dvdimager
20. then burn and enjoy!

before you click it remeber this:
v0.12 is the only version that is fully working.
It dosn't support the following:
DTS-SUBS-MULTI PGC'ED TITLES
Versions up from that do not work as they have problems authoring the subtitles
Oh yes and a major bug of v.12 is the first pas in CCE is really slow due to a bitrate problem.

besides that, why the laughing?
you should have said "or" not "are" -
yes but as far as I have seen your method does not keep the original menu and all the extras intact
and it isn't really your method of doing something
you just use a program -
after following the link I also noticed some bugs with your "method"
my method is flawless...has worked for EVERY movie that I have backedup -
cool thanks Baker
I'll have to try that out and see if it truly is any better
as for you Evil Twin my method is on the top of the page "master of the obvious" -
i dont see any v.0.15 dude
so i guess mine is still better
thanks -
I tried following the DVD-9 to DVD-5 full copy instructions on Doom9 (with Robshot method) and it was too confusing to me. Do either of these methods mentioned here work okay? Can anyone elaborate on the exact steps listed in Jarvis' first post?
I have CCE, TMPGEnc, etc. But when you add VFAPI, Subrip, DVD2AVI and a bunch of other programs, I get something wrong in the end always.
Thanks, Robert -
yeah that's why I just stick with the simple ones
a DVD ripper of choice in backup mode
DVD2SVCD using CCE
chapter xtractor
DVD Maestro, ifoedit and ifoupdate -
Ok the seems pretty easy with little work to be done.
but can you elaborate on step 2. what should I do with dvd2svcd ie settings etc. and where can I find powerbit14. can I just use the vcdhelp bit rate calculator?
dvdmaestro can't be found anymore. how can I find it? hints tips etc.
plus are latest version okay say for ifoupdate .95 or .91?
ufwa@hotmail.com
thanks. -
I could help you with everything but it seems there is no point now since you mentioned you don't have DVD Maestro.
Without Maestro there is no way you can use this guide.
Sorry! -
Ok, now without looking like a total idiot like on my earlier post!!!
I'd really love to give this a try, (been looking for just this guide for a while--think I might have even asked you jarvis before!) a couple of things I'd like to ask first.
Step 2: Settings you use in dvd2svcd? (I think herkulease asked also)
I couldn't find powerbit 14 either I tried doing a search--help please?!
Step 7: I will need to use Pulldown----do I need to rename the file (I read on another forum I might need to rename it)--(just checking to be sure!!)
I put the new file created from pulldown NOT the first m2v file right? (Again, just to be sure)
Step 13: Looks like I replace the newly created vobs into the folder that the rest of the stuff is in via Smartripper, rename if I need to --ie VTS_01.x.VOB to VTS_03.x.VOB . (Am I right??)
Step 15: "open original movie ifo file open authored ifo file"
Kinda confusing here (I'm still the idiot remember!)
Step 17: What to do if resolution is not 16:9 as it should be?
Step 19: I'd like to try 'dvdimager' (tired or my many coasters) where can I find that program (again a search came up blank)
Thanks for the guide!!
Sorry for all the questions.

"Master Of Ignorance" -
Jarvis,
I have all the software, but I need the step-by-step instructions too for DVD2SVCD to use with making DVD MPEG.
Is there a comprehensive guide with your steps anywhere?
Thanks,
Robert -
okay I found dvd maestro. LIke evil twin, can you elaborate on the use of dvd2svcd.
I rest I think I can do. -
ok, for DVD2SVCD it would take too long to type what you need to set on here
so if you give me your email address I will send you the.ini file I use for the DVDSettings, this will set everything you need but the bitrate
powerbit 14 is also small and freeware, not sure why you can't find it, it is out there, but i can email you that too
i can also send ifoupdate as that is another small one
ok let me know by email or something -
here's my email ufwa@hotmail.com
for anyone else I found powerbit 1.4 and ifoupdate 0.55 Below are direct links to get them. shouldn't be a problem both are freeware I believe.
ifoupdate -> http://www.doom9.org/Old_news/old_news.htm
check 11/18
powerbit 1.4 ->http://www.gallen.de/dvd/powerbit14.zip
for english right click and select english. -
Jarvis, send me the ini....i have all the other stuff. Thanks
