  2. BTW - Im using U lead DVD movie factory, dunno if thats the same as WS.... I found 4 patches for it so im gonna whack them in now and try makin the TS folders instead of to disc (quicker) and check them with winDVD

  3. ok big man Ive made the TS TF folders and put the VOB files into winDVD and they are perfect, 4 of them play really nice quality and sync

So now should I try to burn the disc with the TS TF folders (nero) or try again with U lead now ive updated it with patches ?? (using the mpeg2)
So close now, im actually smiling

  4. Well, it would be quicker and probably safer to just burn them with Nero.

  5. ok I authored the mpeg2 like I would normally do it with U lead after I did the Patch updates......................now its playing on my JVC DVD player as NTSC and its 25 mins into movie and all is looking fine & dandy. i dont want to FFW the film as sometimes it messes with it and you get a false reading of bad audio or whatever but normally played it would be fine (I never put any chapters into this 1 you see)........

I think you have made this a success my friend 8)

I owe you for helpin me out and I also notice loads of people have been viewing this topic so I guess theres more than just me out there with this problem and here it is all solved in 1 easy to read page for the world to see

Ok do I need to start new topics for your advice on these things? :-

    1) If the AVi I get is always at 23.967FPS and I want to view it properly as DVD should I always be following this procedure and makin them to NTSC template (with fps set like we said) ?
I ask this because I get some that are 1x700MB AVI + I get them and just extract audio, then convert to MPEG2 and then author and the audio is usually fine (in sync etc) .....
the probs start when you got 2x700MB AVI that make 1 film and they seem to need this process to keep the audio in sync.

    2) I have 2 AVI that are 1 film but Virtual dub reports this error when I try to combine them ***cannot append segment: The audio streams have different sampling rates (17260.00000 vs 17175.00000)

    thank you again man

Glad to see you are finally having some success.

    To answer your questions:-

    1) If a downloaded avi is 23.976 fps (which many tho not all are) then I would certainly reccomend encoding as NTSC as described. Converting to PAL by simply using the PAL template in Tmpgenc often works though as you have seen can result in audio sync problems on occasions. Also you usually end up with slightly jerky video as all Tmpgenc does is repeat one frame per second or so to pad out to 25fps. This is usually most noticeable during slow pans.

    2) To fix this you have to convert the audio of one film to match the other. If one is 48khz and the other not, convert them both to 48khz. Do this in virtualdub by selecting audio->full processing, audio->conversio (set to 48000hz), Video->direct stream copy and file->sav as avi. You now have 2 avis with the same sample rate audio which you can join.

    Have Fun

  7. I have been busy stuck in encoding paradise They are all working perfectly now and I am so pleased that i got a DVD burner now as finally I am seeing the results. no matter what they are, Xvid, DivX, AC3 blah blah blah they are all coming out fine so its a big up to you buddy.

I got the different sample rate AVI film sorted out and thats perfect on DVD as well 8)

The only knid of different Framerate movie I cannot get sorted is 29.970FPS, this encodes with the worst audio sync Ive ever seen, do you know anything about why I would be getting that?

    Many thanks again buddy

  8. 29.97 fps is the proper framerate for NTSC. So if your avi has this framerate just load the DVD(NTSC) template. You may want to change encode mode to Non-Interlace, maybe not, its up to you, your TV/DVD player will display it interlaced anyway. Then ghange anything else you want such as Rate control mode tec and encode as normal. You should then not have any sync problems.

  9. Ok Ill try again using NTSC template, think I use PAL last time, (done so many since)..........

I did put the authored folders onto disc as data and when I try to copy them back to HDD I get this error ***cannot copy VTS_01_0: error performaing inpage operation*** any ideas bud?

No sorry, never tried it myself. A ripping program shouldn't be needed but might be worth a try.

  11. spew it, as long as I have a master as DVd then I can copy it anytime using the nero DVD copy funtion. Gotta get rid of some of them big mpeg2's now, just been scrutinising the disc versions before I do it.

I really appreciate your help over the past few days buddy, you have helped me out a lot 8)

Probably catch you on these forums again some time in the near future...

    Cheers bud.

  12. Just a last qustion to finish off this topic, 1 of my films (Natural Born Killers) has a framerate of 24.000FPS, what would be the correct framerate for TMPGenc to use please??

  13. Well, thats so close to 23.97fps that you might as well encode it as if it was that. You will get some VERY slight audio sync loss towards the end but do the maths, its onlu going to be a couple hundred millisecs or so, not worth worrying about if you ask me.
