  1. decided to try and put some vhs movies on my computer so i could convet them to vcd. one, i get no preview of sound and none in playback when i test view it, and second no matter what quality setting i use i keep dropping way too many frames. is there something i can do to alleviate these problems? the method i'm using is a usb connection from computer to an rca plug adapter that then goes to the vcr rca connections. i don't have a capture card per se installed on the cpu.

Since you say you don't have a capture card, you need to tell us how you are getting the movie/TV show into the PC (hardware, software and procedures.)

Without any further information I suggest:

    1. Start by going through this: http://www.vcdhelp.com/forum/userguides/81808.php it may say it's for ATI capture cards, but most of it applies to any capture system, in general.

    2. Check the How-to Capture section this website and see if any of those guides apply to your situation.

    3. Do a search through the Forum for dropped frames.

Sorry, didn't notice the USB adapter mentioned. Additionally I would:

    1. Search the Capture Cards section and see if your USB adapter is listed. If it is, read the user comments. This may give you some insite.

    2. Search the Forum for any mention of your specific USB adapter.

    3. Check the websit of the manufacturer of the USB adapter

    4. Lower the capture resolution, if you can (if you are capturing at a higher resolution than 352 x 240/288.)
