    I wanted to encode my film to a vcd format(mpeg) but i dont know the video source. if it is ntsc, ntsc film or pal. how would I knoe?

    I don't think the source video type really matters. So don't worry about it.

    Actually it matters a great deal. For instance if the video source is avi encoded at 25 fps (Pal) and you encode to VCD mpeg-1 using TmpGenc and load the NTSC template, the video will come out playing jerkily and chances are the audio will be out of sync.

    Huntress, if your source file is avi format, open it in virtualdub and go to file->file information. It will tell you the resolution, framerate etc. Check this info against the NTSC/PAL info listed at www.vcdhelp.com/vcd
