O.K. Novice here. I hope this is the proper forum for this. If not, sorry
    and please just move it.

Now, I searched and found some threads on these sort of inquiries but they were rather technical (file formats, etc...) so I am posting, hoping to get a more simplified answer (if there is one).

First, here's the hardware that I have/will have:

    NEC ND-1100A DVD+RW Burner
    Reads/Writes to DVD+RW
    Also Reads DVD+R, DVD-R, DVD-RW, etc....

    Panasonic DMRE-30 DVD-RAM/DVD-R Recorder
    Reads/Writes to DVD-RAM, DVD-R, etc...

    Samsung DVDV-2500
    Reads DVD+RW, DVD-R, etc...

The DVDs referred to below will not be copyright protected.

    Now my questions:

    First scenario
    ----------------
Can I copy a DVD-R disc (produced on the E30) onto my PC's hard drive by reading it in my 1100A? In other words, as my 1100A can read it, can I copy what it can read to my hard drive?

If so, can I then use software to edit, dub, alter, etc... and then convert the final content to a format that I can then burn to DVD+RW using my 1100A burner.?

    Second scenario
    -------------------
If I produce a DVD+RW on my 1100A burner, I can play it
on the V2500. Can I then copy it to my DVDR (E30) if they
    are hooked up together?

    Thanks in advance,
    James

1.) Should normally be possible but in some ways impossible. It depends on the record-functions or extras you use with your e30.

The format of the files should be a mpeg2 compliant so there is no big work to convert them, if you have to do that... But I have no standalone dvd recorder - I just figured out the facts from posts I've read in forums.

2.) Is not possible, cause your e30 doesnt work with external/other devices. Brand new recorders have such a connection/function, but your e30 doesnt.

    Correct me if I'm wrong.

    Thanks for the reply [_chef_].

    1) Not sure what you mean. Are you trying to confuse me? LOL!

2), I think I phrased that question incorrectly. What I meant by "hooked up together" is that both units would be connected to my HDTV (all 3 pieces connected together). So I would be playing the DVD+RW on the V2500 (viewing it on the TV) and copying it (from the HDTV) to my E30. I'm not sure how they are connected to the TV, but I gather it would be the same set up like people do to copy VHS to DVD. I guess another way to ask is, is my E30 copying only the content from the TV, or does the format that the DVD disk in the V2500 is in come into play?

    Thanks,
    James

    Ah, good.

Scenario 2 should be working for real. Only if your DVD+RW source has a copyprotection/macrovision and your players macrovision is enabled too it would not work.

And 1, I tried to say when you are using normal recording functions then it will work 100 pro.

Maybe you can find more infos about your e30 here - just try the search function.

Hope not to confused you too much well.
