Does anyone know why I would suddenly get choppy stuttering MPG2 captures with this card. It just happened suddenly IE it used to work OK, I can still capture in MPG1. My intent is to capture from an analog camcorder and convert to SVCD with TmpGenc. Should I take a different approach, install new drivers, codec or what? I have made a couple of succesful SVCD's before so I'd like to continue with the same process without having to buy additional software.

Experiment with custom presets, ie you can edit your MPEG1 capture preset, and change it to MPEG2, maybe lowering the motion estimation settings (sounds like you're dropping frames).
Also, it may be a good idea to upgrade to MMC 7.7.0.1 if you can (or at least 7.6). -
It seems I can't run any higher version of MMC than 7.2 with XP and AIW Pro.
I know it used to work with the same capture settings. I have a development now, though, I installed MGI Video Wave (came with new purchase of Sony MiniDV camcorder), and now thec apturing works fine with ATI. Is that because MGI installs an aditional CODEC? However, now when I go to open an MPG2 file with TMPGenc it just crashes. This is very frustrating, but I think the way for me to go is to use the pass thru on the Sony MiniDV. Though I guess I could probably use the ATI AIW to capture to AVI, which TMPGenc should still be able to handle(?)
