What next?...Burning to VCD?? HELP !!

Hi.

I have converted my files and now ALL are on my hard drive. I have the infamous IFO file but not use how to get the WHOLE thing on 1, 80 minute disk....movie is 1 hour 40 minutes.

I guess the question is, is how do I break it up so it can be put on 2 disks. I'm not sure how to do this, and yes, I know that the whole movie can not be put on an 80 minute CD too.

But I'm still confused on how to break this up and have it successfully on a couple of disks. I have trying to make a VCD.

Hey man, try converting the file to a BIN file. Get VCDImagerGUI from the tools menu.

Download + Install the program. Start up the program and click VCD 2.0. Then add the IFO as your input file and create your OUTPUT BIN file somewhere else on your harddrive.

Hit start and after its finished making the BIN + CUESHEET (Should take no longer than ten minutes on no matter what type of movie you are converting) and load up Nero or Fireburner.

If you are using NERO, make it so you are making a VCD and click FILE ---> Burn CD Image. Locate the Cuesheet, (in the same directory as the BIN you just created) and click File ---> Write CD.
No matter how much meg the file is it should fit onto the disc.

If you are using FIREBURNER, load it up and click FILE ---> IMPORT FILES FROM CUESHEET. Load up the Cuesheet and click CREAT ---> BURN.

I assume that you've ripped your DVD to your HDD?

For those guides, read them CAREFULLY and if you are making VCDs, just choose the VCD specific options. It is generally easier to make VCDs than SVCDs because you have less flexibility (and hence less options to worry about). http://www.vcdhelp.com/vcd

If you want to fit that length movie onto ONE disc, you will have to make an XVCD: http://www.vcdhelp.com/xvcd.htm

If you want to make standard VCDs, then you will have to cut the encoded MPEG into two parts: http://www.vcdhelp.com/edit

However, if VCDImagerGUI reports that the file has too many sectors, you may have to load up TEMPGenc and cut the movie in half. If you don't know how to do this go to

You probably shouldn't use VCDImagerGUI anymore as it is pretty old and the backend, VCDImager, has improved be leaps and bounds since the v0.6.x version used in VCDImagerGUI.

VCDEasy is a pretty good GUI front-end for VCDImager, and a couple of other things as well. It can even burn directly on many burners.

To the original poster, did you already encode your movie to 352x288 (or 352x240 for NTSC) VCD compliant MPEG-1? Cause if not this comes first. Try TMPGenc, read some guides on it, it's free and it's the best in terms of resulting movie quality - though not the fastest.

1 hr 40 min = 50 min per CD....well within the bounds of compatability....

I'd suggest you encode the entire movie with TMPGEnc using the VCD template and then chop the result in half (again...you can use TMPGEnc). Nero will accept the files as valid VCD files and you can burn away... 8)
