  1. Hey guys,

The VCDHELP java calculator works really well. Is there a way to mod it or is there a program which can do exactly the same thing, but change the values to DVDR Settings?

For some movies which are too large, it would be nice to set values like the VCDHELP java calc, and get a max and adverage out of it.

    Thanks!

That calculator does give you and average and maximum birate for VCD/SVCD/DVD formats.

Just enter the length of the film in the time and sec windows it will calculate your average and max birate for you.

I used to use it all the time when i used TMPEGnc for my SVCD conversion's.

Now i just use DVD2SVCD, with it set up for DVD encoding.

  4. Well ok, What is the limit on bitrate drop untill you will notice quality problems with DVD resolutions? At what max level will quality level off at?

For a 120 min movie, the calculator shows an adverage of 4000 or so and a max of 9000 or so. It seems to me the bitrate would be all over the place. 4000 seems low for a DVD source (on adverage) but if the original movie fits on 4.7 gigs, they must have done the same thing.
