  1. please can anybody help me i need to know what is the best setting (image imension) to achieve the best quality for copying from vhs to vcd

  2. basicly you are wasting your time. no matter how you do it it won't come out very good you will be lucky to get vcd quality. the bset way would be to rent the movie on dvd and capture it that way....

    not to say that yet though...
    YES.. I am able to do a very very good VCD from VHS ( believe me I had done it myself not original tape, I am able to get an excellent VCD by capturing and reencode with a 4hr re-recorded tape.....)
    1. Use Windvr and capture as HiQ DV or DV
    2. Extract it using DVD2AVI
    3. reencode with TMPEG...
    It take longer to do and need a powerful CPU to do it.. but the quality is just excellent.... straight capture and encode in 1 step never ever give you the best even with a hardware encoder.
    that's my 2 cents...
    And I had done it myself...
