My CD Writer wont work!!!!!!

On my PC, i had a CD Rom and CD Writer, I have swapped the cd rom for a DVD Rom and only the DVD Rom shows up. What has happened to the cd writer

The first thing I would check are the master/slave jumpers. Make sure one drive on the cable is set master and the other slave.
That's probably it if there is no sign at the very beginning when it checks your ram and lists your hard and cd drives.
And just make sure your cable and power are connected well.
Then maybe your cmos has a hard drive auto detect you can do.

If it's just missing inside windows, maybe boot in safe mode, go to the device manager and delete the old cd rom you have removed.
