  1. I use ULead Media Studio Pro to edit and create the final AVI. If I create a DivX encoded AVI directly out of MediaStudio Pro, how can I make it to deinterlace it automatically so that I won't have to do that using VirtualDub later. My guess was that "Frame Based" option of AVI output does an automatic deinterlacing. But the resultant DivX AVI shows interlacing in high speed scenes.

    Thanks in advance.

The definitive treatise on interlacing, deinterlacing and Divx. Its written for PAL but does give some info for NTSC. I personally NEVER capture interlaced when I am going to end up with Divx. I use my AIW to capture full D1, 15Mbps, I frame only, deinterlaced, full motion estimation and then use Xmpeg to reencode to Divx 2 pass vbr. Womble can trim commercials and do cuts editing before encoding to Divx if you need to. I have never had a acceptable experience software deinterlacing. The output either still had lines, was blurry or took way to long to encode. Good Luck!

What is the best way to capture deinterlaced AVIs from NTSC content? I tried capturing using VirtualDub with the Deinterlace filter on. But that didn't come out to successfully.

I use an Visiontek XtasyEverything for capture.
