svcd the best tools for a nebie

Hello all great site hopefully with the help of this place i will be able to backup my dvds and if you can teach me your allready a winner
Ok so its a simpile question, i want to burn the best qualatie for my dvd backups,what are the best programmes i could use, at the moment i have smart ripper just to rip the dvd
but does that mean it will rip them to svcd format?
Anywhos at the moment all i want to do is get a full dvd on my hard drive with chapters and all in svcd format, i want to get it to the stage were its ready to be burned on a CD. But not after that all im intrested in is getting it ready to be burned.

well keep up with with ripping the dvd to your hard drive. as far as converting to scvd with subtitles you should get dvdx. it coverts. splits to cd size and supports subtitles. heres the guide also for using dvdx. http://www.vcdhelp.com/sefy/?id=direct1.html
once that is done you can use nero to burn if you have it but if you don't and don't want to pay for it you should get Vcdeasy that can be found at http://www.vcdeasy.org/ which is free. hope this is a start.....
