  1. Well I've found a lot of mistakes in all the lists that are out there on the net so I figure one of the better ways to try and combat this is to lists the mistakes I have found rather then trying to update all the lists...

So please anyone with any additions to this please add yours.. What I'm looking for is discs that were said to be DVD5's and are actually DVD9's.

I have 4 to add.. (All NTSC R1)

    Deuce Bigalow: Male Gigalo
    Tom Green: Freddy Got Fingered
    Leaving Las Vegas
    Christine Aguilera: My Relection

I've seen these 4 on DVD5 lists and they are NOT there DVD9's.

  2. Here's another one that is listed as DVD5 / Single Layer on many sites that is actually Dual Layer...

Ferris Bueller's Day Off, NTSC, R1

P.S. I'm verifying these as I have the actual originals to try in my drive.. Please do the same when adding to the list...

  3. Don't forget that a lot of the lists refer to content that can be burnt onto a DVD-R without re-encoding, or will fit when the extra soundtracks have been removed for example.

Just because it was a dual layer disc originally doesn't mean a backup won't fit on a single recordable.

If all you want is the film, ie no extras or dubbed Klingon soundtracks (it's gonna happen guys, I bet the new Star Trek film will have something funky on it like that when it comes out on DVD), a lot of discs that are currently on dual layer discs can be backed up easily onto blank media.

  4. I was definatly aware of that. However quite a few of the titles I listed are on the following list....

    http://www.geocities.com/singlelayerdvd/allsinglelayerdvds.txt

Which a lot of people go by.. It specifically says ALLSINGLELAYERDVDS which is not the case. I think a lot of the problem may stem from different regions. As in some of the ones on these lists may be region 2 for eg and maybe those ones are DVD5 but I'm on NA so I am getting R1 discs... Also imdb.com and dvdempire.com have also listed some of these titles as DVD5 as well.
