  1. I have been having a problem with renaming my file to .mpa I am converting a .dat file to an mpeg, then demuxing, and converting the audio file to 48hz.

It gets savedas "avseq01.m1v" and the vcd to dvd guide on this site says to rename it with a different extention of "avseq01.mpa". I have done this before but can't seem to do it now. It is currently saved as .mv1 and I know that just renaming it will cause it to be "avseq.01.mpa.mv1" and the icon will have the heading "avseq01.mpa" but still be a .mv1 file extention.

I know this is probably easy but I just can't think of what to do right now. Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Nathan

First, you probably don't want to rename you m1v file to mpa because mpa is an audio stream and m1v is a video stream. Demuxing the VCD file should give you an m1v video stream and an mp2 audio stream. The audio stream can be renamed to mpa.

You should go in to the Windows explorer settings and turn off "hide file extensions for known file types". That setting makes a poorly designed GUI even worse by adding inconsistency, and it's on by default. In Windows 2000 it's in the View tab under Folder Options, it's somewhere similar on other versions. Once you can see the real extensions you can change them.

  3. I am totally sorry. I did mean I wanted to convert my .mp2 audio file to .mpa.

Thanks ALOT for the suggestion. I will try it and see what happens.

I tried to get around this problem by just re multiplexing the new 48hz audio file with the movie file and just burning them together on a dvd and it worked. The audio was just a LITTLE of towards the end 2 minutes of a 28 min file.
