portable vcd player

NEWBIE. I have just bought a multi format playing portable cd player the supertek 2003. it plays vcd's but they are quite green. I've read about codecs but it is not possible to alter the device itself so does something have to be done before copying begins. the fella that does the discs for me has had no problems from anyone else and when he played one on his it was fine but when I put it in my player it was still green.
any help would be most appreciated.

Those portable players suck. I had a friend who bought one (not sure if it was the same brand as yours though) and he had major problems with it.
