  1. Hello everyone have a question I just backed up one of my DVD's to SVCD using the DVD2SVCD program, Fast and the Furious, using CCE to encode it took 10 1/2 hrs I burned it two different ways one using the deamon tools method and another having nero burn the mpg.

My problem is that the movie plays very slow and the audio seems to play on pauses both on my computer DVD ROM Pioneer, and my home DVD Player Panasonic RV32, any suggestions on what can I do to correct this problem? Thanks in advance for any recomendations.

BTW if I play the mpg file directly from the HD it plays fine.

If it's equally bad both in stand alone and in computer, and the MPEG plays fine on the computer, it's probably something wrong with how the CD's are authored and/or burned.
    Try author/burn with VCDEasy

  5. Sorry did not mean to come across that way,
Yes the Panasonic RV32 supposed to support SVCD, even on my computer Pioneer drive it plays very slow like it skips for a millisecond and goes, skips and goes! anyhow i'm reading on how to use VCDesay and will give it a try here in a little while, and thanks.

  6. Well I tried VCDEASY, and still does the same on my standalone dvd player, but it plays on the computer one now, also I burned another one using deamon and nero at a lower recording speed and it also plays on my computer player but not on my standalone, could it be the media? i'm using el cheapo imation.

it might be the media. I would try 2 things:
try the discs you've burned in somebody else's player, and try different media

    4x max....

make sure when you burn, you aren't doing anything else on the comp...the burner's buffer needs to be maxed out

also, did you check the dvd player compatibility section of this website??? it'll tell you which formats your dvd player can play and the max bitrate it can handle (video + audio). MAKE SURE YOUR BITRATE DOES NOT EXCEED THE MAX BITRATE FOR YOUR DVD PLAYER also look for other people's comments about which brand of media they used. perhaps, your dvd player is really picky about the cd-r.

  9. ok, i went ahead and looked at your dvd player in the dvd compatibility section and people have had problems with SVCDs, etc...

    - SVCD isnt supported, but you can play them with the famous "header trick". Althought obviously the time count wont be accurate, and when you fast-forward/rewind the svcd, there wont be no sound when you hit play again. Just press "pause" then play again, then it'll be back to normal.
When it comes to video playback, the unit plays DVDs, and that's all that it does. DVD+Rs played but stuttered, some VCDs played (maybe every 4th), and the rest of video disk formats did not.
SVCD needed header trick and 2200 kb/s to work (havent tried higher bit rates) but otherwise plays great. There may be ever so slight occasional jitteriness with SVCD but I am not sure if this is the player or the effects of the mpg encoding which is more noticeable at the the higher resolution of svcd over vcd.
As mention SVCD is screwed, gotta go re author those old svcd's into DVD

Iv'e noticed that most of the new model DVD's seem to have issues with SVCD looks like a anti piracy effort on the manufacturers side
The only reason it does not get a ten is the lack of playing all types of svcd. It works with the header trick using TMPEnc and it also works when you let Nero re-encode it when cutting a svcd. Also you must try and keep the bitrate at 2250 or less else you might get some audio problems.
Could only get the player to play mpeg2 using the SVCD header trick. On standard SVCD the player would pause every 1 or two seconds.
looks like your dvd player normally doesn't play SVCD, but people have gotten it to play SVCDs with the "header trick". also, some people say you should keep the bitrate max at 2250 or you will get audio problems.[/quote]
