  1. I'm trying to go through the tutorial on vcdhelp.com "How to add subtitles from SRT,SUB to a DivX video and encode to a VCD/SVCD(MPEG)?"
I have carefully gone through the steps successfully until the end where it says "Now it's time to Encode the frameserved video to MPG. Launch TMPGEnc.."
I launch TMPGEnc do file>new project, then browse to set the video source as C:\FTPdir\DIVX\frameserver.vdr
then I go to set the audio source as C:\FTPdir\DIVX\frameserver.vdr but it spits back the message:
"File"C:\FTPdir\DIVX\frameserver.vdr" can not open, or unsupported."
I have also tried to set the audio source by simply cutting and pasting the filename into the input box and hitting the start button and it just spits back the same message again. I can, however encode to mpeg and get the subtitles in and everything when i run the project with only TMPGEnc pointing to the video stream from the file server. So, anyone have any idea what I'm doing wrong??
    Thanks

  2. Set TMPGenc under Option->Environmental settings->VFAPI plug-in and right click on the DirectShow Multimedia File Reader and increase the priority to 1 or 2 and try open the video

  3. Thanks for the idea. I did what you advised but I still got the same error as before. Unfortunately...

    Any other ideas?

  4. IN case anyone cares, I finally figured out how to work around this problem. I went back into virtualdub, selected the entire file, and in direct stream mode i saved the audio track to a .wav file. Then I loaded the video frames from VirtualDub in TMPGEncode and loaded the .wav file as the audio and then muxed 'em all up. It worked perfectly. I just watched the VCD's last night!

    Thanks for the help

  5. hi

i've been trying to figure out this same problem all day.

    i followed the f.a.q. here
    http://www.vcdhelp.com/srtsubsvirtual.htm

i hit a bump at the same spot you did with TMPG

i tried to open the "anything.vdr" file using TMPG and it gives me an error saying "illegal stream format"

kaeru, can you post step by step on how you successfully added subs to vcd?

    thx

  6. ok i found out what i did wrong, prolly the same thing you did.

before i opened the file using TMPGE, i closed virtualdub and the frameserver window. it only works if you leave virtualdub and that frameserver window open while opening it in TMPGE. virtualdub and TMPGE works side by side.

i guess it was serious when it says "Don't click on the Stop Serving."

it's encoding right now and i can see the subs while it's encoding, 4 hours to go, woohoo!
