Hi I'm totally new to this so don't flame me or something. Once you rip your DVD to VCD do you just burn the VCD to a disk using Nero or whatever, and then it will be able to play in a DVD standalone player or am I way retarded here? Does it have to be a blank DVD disk or can U use a CD-R? Please help, I'm new and LOST!!

Once you have the file in the right VCD format you CAN burn it as Video-cd file onto cd-r or cd-rw and most standalone players would have no problem with it , I did it many times .

You can do it with nero.
Just select video cd (vcd) in the wizzard.
Then drag and drop the files onto your vcd.
Give the vcd a name and burn it.
It can be burnt on a cd-r
