  1. I've got a problem with an SVCD (well three actually ). It was ripped from the DVD with SmartRipper, then encoded with DVD2SVCD.

When the disc is played in PowerDVD, it plays the fine, the resultant MPG files play fine, but when I play it in my standalone player the audio is out of synch by +1 second. (The audio plays 1 second after the corresponding visual events).

I suppose I could seperated the audio and video, then recombine, offsetting the audio, but that might leave a disc that only works on my standalone, which I want to avoid.

Does anyone have any ideas on what my first move to solving this should be, or an idea of what could be causing the problem?

  2. burn max 4x....

downsample audio from 48 khz to 44.1 khz

make sure max bitrate (video + audio) doesn't exceed your dvd players max

did you check the dvd player compatibility section of this website? it'll tell you the max bitrates and other info about your dvd player, including other users comments.
