Does anyone know if I can convert VCD MPEG to the same kind of file format that a PS1 uses with its streaming files, you know the sort, cinema clips at the beggining of games etc.

  2. To play VCDs (i.e., REAL VCDs) on a PSX, you will need to the VCD adapter that you can buy.

The video used on the PSX is in some form of MJPEG (the PSX has a hardware MJPEG decoder). I don't know of any way personally where you can encode video in this format (and have it play on your PSX) but I suggest a Google search. Any method would undoubtedly require the presence of a mod chip.

  3. I dont know about the PSOne but on My old model (Grey Box) playstation, I bought a small unit which I plugged into the back of it, that allowed Me to watch vcd's on the psx, it actually had fairly good control over the movie also (breaking it up into 9 parts to choose where to start from etc), it also doubles

This unit was made by Gamars, I know after My model the port needed to put the unit into got removied so they made a internal chip. For My model I didnt need a modchip however I did have one lol.
