I have a std home PC with NT4/SP6a. The video card is an Elsa Victory Erazor, it has plugs for VHS-in and S-VHS in (and out for both too). I've downloaded loads of capture programmes, and VfW, and all sorts of drivers for the card itself, and a generic riva 128 driver (thats the chip), and other stuff too..... Nothing wants to work. I have hooked up a v standard analogue vhs camcorder. Under Control panel|Multimedia|devices|video capture I see that I have ASUS VfW video capture driver v 1.0 for NT4, and it is installed and functioning properly. If I start a capture program, e.g. virtual-dub, and click on capture, I get error message "capture device not detected". If I open mainactor capture, I click on source and it says VFW device #0; acapnt32.dll And the program just sits there blankly. I called Elsa, they were no help, said the card was too old for them to have any info/drivers left, the guy I spoke with (in UK) had been there the longest and he didn't think the card had any video in ports!. Any thoughts please anyone?
thanks

I don't know how to get your Elsa to work. As much I know VirtualDub needs special drivers.
You can try AVI_IO, I have heard that it will sometimes work with cards other programs doesn't work with.
To you question capturing under WinNT4
I'm working with NT and everything works perfect!
I've got the Hauppauge WinTV Primio with VirtualDub which is an cheap way to capture everything you want(I have captured muvies like Simpsons, Futurama, Enterprice and so on...)!

Hi, thanks for the suggestion, I loaded avi-io, ran it and first thing I get is a fatal error message, cannot connect to first capture device, use devices menu to choose another one. click OK, it opens alright, all the video settings menu is blanked out, devices list just this acapnt32.dll, "start capture" button brings reply "you must sset the capture settings, ", under file|capture settings it says "you must choose the video format first" which is greyed out!. Any other thoughts please anyone?
thanks
