  1. I wanna encode an DivX movie and i have to extract the audio stream to *.wav before using Tmpeg to bring it in SVCD format.

But i have a problem. Yesterday i encoded my first Xvid movie to VCD and i have to recognize that after installing Xvid no other DivX movies were played correctly. Then i installed DivX again and then i have to see that Xvid movies were no longer played correctly...

    Whats the prob???

I have also a prob with Virtual Dub. It says under File Information that under Compression: Unknown (tag 2000)

Does anyone know which codec is meant?

Now i have installed all types of audio codecs with the Nimo Codec Pack. And i can hear the sound when played in wmp, but when i open the file in virtual dub there is shown under Audio Compression Unknown (tag 2000) again...

    Whats the problem?

  3. You have AC3 for sound, most XviD movies use it to save the space and get a great quality. It isn't a problem if you can hear it anyway - most likely it is rendered by DirectShow filters that come with Nimo Codec Pack. If you really need the codec itself, look for AC3 on the web. In the future you might need to look at this guide if you ever want to convert it to (S)VCD.

    Regards.

  4. No, it isnīt like this. Right now, i can watch DivX movies w/o any probs, but Xvid movies have green chunks in it. Xvid has been installed with Nimo Codec Pack, but all Xvid movies are green chunked...

    Whats the prob...???

What i said before has got nothing to do with your other problem - green chunks. I said that the audio in your XviD is AC3 and you can hear it because you have installed DirectShow filters for AC3 that come with Nimo Codec Pack. These filters only help to render the sound and that is why it comes up as "unknown (tag 2000)" in Virtual Dub. If you want Virtual Dub to display correct info, find and install AC3 codec itself. The guide i mentioned you will need to extract your sound when converting to Mpeg1/2 in TMPGEnc.

The green chunk problem might be caused by 2 things:

    1) incorrect or unstable version of XviD codec installed: don't use the XviD codec that comes with Nimo Codec Pack, download the latest stable binary of XviD from here
    2) bad/corrupt frames while downloading: fix the bad frames or download another copy

    Good Luck.
