  1. Hi, my Onkyo DVC-600 just broke down. I liked it, but it had some flaws. Anyway, I'm in the market to replace it now, but I have to do it for cheap. $100 would be nice, but I can go as high as $150 if I have to. Here are my requirements in order of importance:

    1. Good audio quality. I have good speakers and a good 2-channel analog amp. I don't care about surround processing, just good sound quality (I'm a "budget" audiophile I guess).

    2. Decent picture quality. I'll be using this with a $300 Philips TV with component inputs. Nothing fancy here, not HDTV, etc. Therefore I don't think I need progressive scan.

    3. Plays MP3s, CD-Rs, CD-RWs

    4. Won't die in a year

    5. Plays SVCD

I really appreciate any suggestions people can give me!
I have heard good things about Panasonic players....???

    thanks,
    Bryan

Do know if the audio or video is up to your standards, but if I had $100 to spend on a DVD player right now, it would be an Apex AD-5131. Check this site for info about it. www.nerd-out.com
