  1. I have an mpeg file that if I put it in toast it converts to a vcd. I was told that I needed an mpeg 2 file to author a dvd through dvd studio pro. I am not sure if my mpeg is mpeg 1 or 2. How can I make an mpeg 2 if my mpeg is and mpeg 1 and how do I know which mpeg I have? Thanks!

  2. get yourself a little software called mpeg info, that should tell you what you need to know.

MPEG-1 is a part of the DVD spec, and as such, given the MPEG-1 file is encoded to spec, will import as elementary streams into DVD Studio Pro. Your maximum NTSC resolution in DVD for MPEG-1 is 352x240, and your maximum bitrate for the video is 1.7Mbps.
