  1. I have two PC's one with XP Home and the other with Windows 2000 Pro.

When I rip DVD's on the XP machine I can play back the individual VOB OK.

However when I rip on the 2000 machine and play the VOB files the picture is perfect but there is no sound. If I play the DVD on the 2000 PC it plays OK with sound, it's just after I rip it there's no sound.

I've used both DVD Decrypter and SmartRipper on the 2000 PC with exactly the same setting as the XP PC but both produce the same results = No sound.

Am I missing something here? Is there something that XP has that isn't on 2000?

Also the spec of the 2000 PC is much better than the XP PC

  2. Probably not it but are you sure you do not have any of the sound playback modes MUTED" in the win2k install.

I think Playing a DVD uses CD playback sound control and the playback of the *.VOB file is a WAV playback. These are two different settings. Just a possibility I may have this wrong.

  3. None of the settings in the sound controls are muted.

If anyone is using 2000 can they let me know how they are getting on with ripping etc?
