  1. i'm looking to convert these HUGE mpeg files that i have. i have recorded programs from my tv card and they turn out to be about ~5 GB (that's not a typo, 5 GB) for each one hour show.

i'm looking for the best way i can convert these mpeg files to divx so i can fit them on one cd-r.

    any suggestions??

    TIA!

    What are they? MPEG1? MPEG2?
Try VirtualDub to encode them to DivX.

If it is mpeg2 try www.vidomi.com and convert to divx. Or you can use dvd2avi,flaskmpg.
