I usually buy the cheapest CD's I can buy on sale and have never had a problem...until now. I tried to burn an SVCD on a FujiFilm CD-R and it wouldn't play in my DVD player at all. It wouldn't even recognize it. I then burned that same file on a Maxell CD-R and it played just fine.
I have a Sony 655P DVD player which has played everything I've put into it so far.
Anyone else have this same problem with the Fuji??
Thanks.

What color is the disc surface ?
I was about to go to BB to pick up two 50 pcs Fuji CDR spindle. Er, maybe not. -
I just finished using up a 50pk of fuji cd's i didnt have any of them fail on me. I burned at 12x although i always burn at that speed

Fuji's work fine for me (and for a lot of other people) and they're usually considered pretty high quality. But some DVD players just don't like some types of CD-R. Check the comments on your player in the DVD player list, maybe somebody has said "brands X and Y worked but brand Z didn't".

They worked good for me. In fact, the only problems I've ever had were with memorex CDR's.

Fuji CDRs work fine, but only burned at 16x or below with my Yamaha 24x10x40. It's a disappointment. I burn all types of files on them: vcd, svcd, data, overburned, and etc. They all play on my JVC s502sl dvd player.
I agree that Fuji CDRs are considered top-quality, but somehow they
work at 16x or below for me -
the Fuji CD-Rs worked great for me..the only problem they had was burning CD Text on them, because it was an older HP 8x burner, so it wouldn't allow Write Text to be enabled

have to agree with most everyone here.. FujiFilm discs have worked great for me. great as data backup on the computer and my Dvd Player (Mintek 2110) sees them fine, too.
one question though.. could you check the ATIP on those discs and see if it matches this (output from Cdr-Identifier v1.63):
ATIP: 97m 24s 01f
Disc Manufacturer: Taiyo Yuden Company Ltd.
Reflective layer: Dye (Long strategy; e.g. Cyanine, Azo etc.)
Media type: CD-Recordable
Recording Speeds: min. unknown - max. unknown
nominal Capacity: 702.83MB (79m 59s 73f / LBA: 359848)
these were the stats on a FujiFilm spindle, specifically:
FujiFilm CDR 80/700 50pk Spindle (upc: 0-74101-75474-2)
hopefully FujiFilm has not started using a new supplier! -
I do know some of the 100 packs were not TY made. They didn't have the normal large cream color spindle nut.So I just watch for that. I have burned several thousand Fujis, and have about 500 on hand.

I have had great luck with Fujifilm but ran into a problem with a recent batch I purchased at Best Buy. I also burn at 16X in general.
The batch I have had for quite some time worked great and they are Toyo Yulden brand under the Fujifilm label.
The batch I just got from Best Buy a week ago just do not work even at 4X burn. They are the same color on the recording surface and are Toyo Yulden media. The new batch has a top that is very colorful and the 50 pack has 5 different color top surfaces. The older batch the top is Plain silver with the standard identifying marks.
Maybe the new batch I got is just a bad batch or they changed something. The new ones do work fine for data and audio CD's but the audio CD's CVD's Etc will not play in my DVD player (Philips DVD724AT for now). -
