  1. I am using a Sony Hi8 camera using USB streaming to transfer. My problem is not matter what capture program I use (VirtualDub, Movie Maker, etc.) I can't capture higher that 320x240. Is there any way to do this? Any help and/or direction would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

  2. I have also tried caturing through USB from my Sony TRV 608 HI-8 camcoder. The output quality is very bad. There is no clarity , lots of frames are lost. I tried lots of software but in vain. I believe that capturing through USB is not a good idea. One needs to have a Video capture card. I have tried on a PIII 800 MHz 256 MB machine.

The speed of USB is just too slow to handle the larger capture sizes.

  4. ...unless the device has a realtime MPEG encoder. in which case it may work, or may have other issues, depending on the device, software, and your PC.

  5. The USB streaming on SONY is for WEBCAM application.

Sony Hi-8 analog video is very sharp, get a $60-$90 PCI capture card, and you should able to get very good result and made great S/VCD.

  6. Can any one suggest a good Video capture card for capturing video from my Sony TRV 608 HI8 Camcoder ?
My Machine configuration is PIII 800 Mhz 256 MB RAM and Win XP Professional. Is this configuration good enough to capture video and create a good quality VCD ?
I have gone through the list of the Capture cards in the Capture Card section, but I am not able to select the right one. I am on a tight budget and looking at around $30-$60. budget.
