I have converted many .avi files to vcd or svcd files with no problems. I thought I would take a shot at ripping my first DVD to avi, but then came the problems. I used smartripper first, but I couldn't get it to start at the first of the movie. I told it to pick all files, but it still starts several minutes into the movie. I then uses DVDtoAVI next. The picture was great, but then more problems such as no sound with the output. Can anyone give me a little boost in the right direction? I tried to use the how-to files here, but no luck. Is there a step-by-step for going from DVD to AVI for the real dumb people. Thanks for any help.
