  1. I am using Nero 5.5.9.17. It was working just fine up until now. Suddenly, it won't create menus that have thumbnails. When you try to create a thumbnail menu it shuts itself down. Everything else about Nero still seems to work OK. I haven't installed any new software, but I did recently use VCDEasy and Ulead DVD Movie Factory, but I have had those progams on my machine for a long time with no compatability problems. I tried reinstalling Nero from scratch, but I still have this problem.

Has anyone experienced similar problems or have any idea how to solve this problem? Thanks

  2. I know its no help, but I posted this exact same problem earlier today (no one's answered yet) At least we know its not an isolated experience. I'll let you know if I ever get a solution - hope you'll do the same.

    Good luck

  3. I went back and installed an earlier version of Nero and still no luck. No matter what version I use Nero shuts itself down as soon as I start to do anything involving creating menus with thumbnaills.

  4. I found a work around to solve this problem. The problem is apparently caused by the priority of the various direct show filters which are used to display MPEG files. I think what is happening is that a filter with the highest priority has become registered and that filter isn't entirely compatable with NERO. Here is how I solved it:

Start an MPEG file (not one you will using in NERO) playing in a software DVD player (I used PowerDVD). Once the clip begins to play pause the playback (don't stop playback) and minimize the DVD player to the task bar. Then, start up NERO. This establishes a good direct show filter linkage for you. My NERO then works just fine to generate, preview, and burn menus with thumbnail photos. Once your finished with NERO exit the program and then also close your software DVD player which was running in the background all the while in pause mode.

Let me know via your reply if this works for you too. Good luck!!!
