If my DV camera does not support analog input, is there something that I can add to the camera that will make it that way??? I really need to transfer VHS tapes to the computer and burn them to DVD without having dropped frames.....

  2. No. Sorry. You can get an external box as a passthru, but it runs a couple hundred bucks. If you can return the cam, it might be worth it to look at spending that extra for a cam that has the feature. Or, you could just get a PCI card that can do your capping in real time, like a Hauppauge PVR250, which should be less $$.

If you want no frame drops, get the Pinnacle DV500 DVD. I just got one last week and I've been pretty happy with it except I can no longer hibernate the system. Hopefully they will have a fix out some time soon. I was dubbing onto my DV cam, but VHS tapes are 120min where my DV tapes were 90min. The DV500 is fast and has hardware accelerated MPEG-2 encoding that looks really good. It takes about 6min to render DVD quality video on a 5min clip.

This is the cheepest I found it for, and it had $2 second day shipping. Also, there is a rebate for a $109 Contour Shuttle.

Take a look at www.dv-in-france.com, maybe your DV-camera does support analog-in and it's just blocked. My camera (sony trv6e) didn't have DV-in, and with a simple cable and some codes I can put my edited video back to the camera
Just because you aren't paranoid, doesn't mean they aren't out to get you!

Thank god for the altavista translator. LOL My Sony PC100 isn't listed, but they havn't updated that site for a long time. I did this kind of thing for my stand a lone sony dvd player to get rid of macrovision and blocking you from fast forwarding through the FBI warnings. Worked great.
