  1. I have a jvc 523gd player...I have seen several conflicting statements about this player in the forum and the dvd players list, some say svcd's work some say they dont. I have made over 20 XVCD's with panisonic,Tmpgenc,VCDimager, and nero all play perfectly.
But I cant get anything mpg2 to play....the timer goes but no video or audio...am I missing a setting?? Should i give up on Svcd's?? If anyone got this to work please tell me your method of creation?? Although I think I've tried everything... Thanks in advance....Mav

EXACT same problem here, with the same model etc (Jvc xv-523gd)..

Still looking for the solution but at least your not alone.

  6. If anybody can figure this out, please let me know too! It is about to drive me nuts! I can play VCD without problem, but a SVCD counts track one and then skips to track 2 without showing any picture on the screen or sound.

  7. Welp after reading various articles by people, i think the problem is the listing on this site (and other sites that use VCD helper for info).

From what i can gather from ALOT of forums, this model does NOT support SVCD. It does support VCD and XVCD with certain bitrates.

Most of the people I think who 'thought' it worked probably didn't have a true svcd but assumed because the resolution was better than vcd that it had to be SVCD when in fact it was probably a version of XVCD.

I'm going to try to play around this weekend and see what bitrates of XVCD work and try to boost my quality of visuals, but i'm giving up on SVCD.

Even the "TEST" Bin/Cue that is provided here on this site wouldn't play. And it does the EXACT same thing that my own creations (which i thought perhaps i did wrong) , were doing.

Oh well still a decent player for real DVDs etc..
