  1. After days of nothing but reading the guides/forums, im able to produce Divx/Xvid to SVCD using TMPGEnc/Audiodub and other utilitie, I finaly burned it with Nero Express under SVCD mode cos I liked the inbuilt menu system.

Works 100% on my Scan DVD player, the audio/pictures perfect!... but on other DVD players it works iffy as in slightly out of synch audio, or picture qualities plain poor and on one DVDplayer it didnt even run at all even though its got SVCD written on the front and it plays other SVCDs!

And yes I have done the Audio>wav or AC3>Wav conversion/checked for fps and ratios its all proper... as I say it works flawless of my DVD player.

Is this the same case with anyone else?

    Small Rant:

Such a shame there aint no ALL-IN-ONE program out there that can successfully convert an Divx/Xvid to SVCD via one button click, its even more worse that DVD players dont play Divx films! especially when there 10x more popular!

If you really had done this you wouldn't need to be asking this question!
You would also know the use of Nero as an encoder (which you imply) is most definatley NOT the normal reccomendation.
You should also be aware of the compatibility issues between differnet DVD players and the various recordable media.

I suggest you 'read' some more.

Well, Nero's fine for burning stuff, but not, as mentioned earlier, for encoding.
I did also try Nero for authoring VCD's (before knowing better, even if I never let it encode anything!), but my stand alone refused to play them. Found this app VCDEasy. Took the very same MPEG that Nero turned into yet another coaster (as far as my DVD was concerned), let VCDEasy have a go at it, and voila! a perfect (well, at least playable) VCD.
So, if you're gonna let Nero get involved, just let it write the CD image. For every other aspect of (S)VCD creation, there are much better (and free!) tools around.
There will never be a "all-in-one one-click" application to accomplish anything, that a suite of specialized applications wont accomplish much better, and with a much higher degree of control.

tmpgenc is pretty simple. though its about three to four clicks. that might be a little too much for you rp25.

  6. Man Bugster u ruined whole thread for me, why did u say I encode with Nero when ive said Ive read all the guides and know how to convert Divx> SVCD 100% just fine.

WTF do u people think I did read all the guides then fired up Nero to encode? U guys.....

Ive re-edited my post so its extra crystal clear now.

I only burn the mpegs via Nero cos I like the menus it creates

Once someone makes a negative point the rest just follow like lemmings!

Cheers, but I might try this VCDEasy. I just prefer Neros inbuilt SVCD menu creator and its ease of use

Since I've never succeded in making a (S)VCD with Nero that my DVD will play, I can't comment on Nero menues, but I'm positive that, with a little work, you'll be able to create menues that VCDEasy can incorporate, that outshine what Nero lets you accomplish by several orders of magnitude.

  8. yeah u werent kidding lots more options and goodies in VCDeasy

Ive burned a few samples already, working flawless on my DVD player and SVCD pops up also, in fact its id say 90% the same quality as the divxs 8) And this is without me tweeking for higher quality!

Now lets see how compatible it is with my m8s DVD players....

But remember not to tweak too much - if you raise the bitrates above SVCD standard (max ~2524 kbit/sec MPEG-2 (if the audio is in 224 kbit/s), audio + video bitrate max bitrate is ~2748 kbit/s.
), the player may be into trouble, resulting in below par audio/video!
One model may handle higher bitrates well, another choke completely, or desyncing or... Only trial&error will tell!

  10. Yeah I dont tweek much, gonna find out tommrow if VCDeasys copy worked ok or not on a m8s dvd player... K19 and tiple X Divx>SVCDs came out perfect on my my DVDplayer, DVD quality for sure.

Just hope it works on other DVD players...

Another mate told me he uses VCD 1.0 always since it always works on all DVD players for some reason...

Pratice makes perfect, and trial and error always works
