  1. Having some problems with getting good quality on my VCDs. I tried almost everything. What format and framrate gives the best result?
Let's say I get a movie file in avi format. How can I be sure that one gives me DVD like quality when converting and burning it to e.g. SVCD?
I get jumpy and bad quality movies. The colors are wrong, if any, and the focus and resolutions are bad. I don't even get the picture format correct. Gets black and greylike color around the picture on the TV screen.

You may call me a lamer to this, but how the h... do I get it right?

To get it right its just like anything else. Practice, try things, ask questions (specific ones not vague enquiries like this) and keep trying. If you are patient and keen you will learn what to do to achieve your desired results, if not you will give up and do something else.
Just read every guide you can find, try every technique and tool mentioned until you find the method that suits you and gives you what you want.

Just to get you started, TmpGenc is a great if rather slow encoder, also easy to use. Nero is OK for burning though other will suggest other tools. Make sure you encode your mpeg with the same framerate as the avi whenever possible.

    Hope this helps
