Hi,
I am looking for some firmware to allow my standalone DVD player to play SVCDs. It's a 'Powerpoint DV2001' player. I searched the compatibility on this site list but the make is not listed. I removed the cover to find that the drive was a DVS DSL-710A (firmware version LT1.9) and the player uses the STi5519AVB-X chipset. Is there a generic hack to make this combination play SVCDs (and region free would be nice!) or is it specific to the manufacturer? The player might already play SVCDs and also be multiregion already. I found an article(http://us.st.com/stonline/press/news/year2001/p847p.htm) which says the chipset supports SVCDs but I'm not sure if my player does or not. If the chipset is used, is it right to say that the full set of features are supported in my player or is it prgrammed by the manufacturer accordingly? Thanks for your help.
