I've got this SVCD I'm having trouble with, and I wonder if someone can think of a solution.

It plays fine on my PC and old (TV) DVD player, but won't on my new DVD player. (Other SVCDs do.) It's concert footage and I would like to get it playing with the good speakers etc.

So I thought I'd copy it to disk on my PC and break it into smaller files, thinking that was the problem with the new DVD player. The file is nearly 700 Mb, and no menus or anything. I thought I'd use Studio 8, or TMPGEnc to break it up, and Nero to rerecord it.

But I can't copy it from the CDR. It gets within 5 seconds of completion then it fails with an error message - invalid MS-DOS command. (This is using XP, though!) Anyone any clues how to get it from disc?

Assuming I do get it to the hard disk, does my plan sound feasible? I think I'd have to pay for TMPGEnc Plus as it is MPEG2, and I don't seem able to find a codec that will allow the free version to open MPEG2s. Studio 8 would do it, but I fear that when it reads in the file and creates clips I'd have about a million!

Any help appreciated.
