  1. My name is Nathan and I'm writing a research paper on changing from CD's to DVD's as a source of storage for many different reasons for many different uses. I need a primary source for my paper (interview, questionnaire, etc...) and I wanted to ask for opinions here and use them in my paper.

If you post a response and don't want me to include certain information about yourself, let me know. If you want to tell me something outside of the forum, send me an email to touring_fan@msn.com and I'd be glad to read them.

The paper is mostly about what is beneficial to DVD's, but I'm also contrasting DVD's to CD's mainly in relation to cost (value) of drives and media and their capacity. However, there are other implied benefits of DVD's, like not having to change discs and higher data density (store more data in less physical space). That is where I'm trying to go with this paper and I'd appreciate anyones input.

    Thank you, Nathan.

perhaps you should make a list of some questions and then post that.

I would be willing to share what i know but I'm not sure what is prudent.

  3. Okay.

    * Well, what criteria would you (that is, anyone responding) use to determine to switch from CD's to DVD's?

    * How would DVD's affect your personal life? For instance, if your job was to routinely back up data for a coporate server to disc, what benefits would DVD's have for you as compared to CD's?

    * What features would you look for if you were to purchase or have purchased a DVD recorder? compatability with formats, speed, cost, etc...?

The paper is pretty persuasive towards DVD's and those are some of the aspects I'm paying attention to at this time. If you or anyone can suggest more reasons to switch, I'd more than appreciate it if you posted them along with your answers to the above questions.
