As per message in other Doom9 forum:
"They've just put a bogus vob-id 1 at the beginning that isn't referenced by the movie. .... copy all the files to the HD and then load vts_01_1.vob into vobrator. Make sure that vob-id 1 is not included in the output and then save as a new file. Rename the original file to something and then change the newly saved one to vts_01_1.vob. From then on treat as normal."
Then follow the normal guide "Split a DVD to 2 DVD-Rs" from Doom9
After 2 folders are created copy the following
VTS_02_0.VOB
VTS_02_0.IFO
VTS_02_0.BUP
VTS_02_1.VOB
VTS_03_0.BUP
VTS_03_0.VOB
VTS_03_0.IFO
VTS_03_1.VOB
to both folders.
Sadly changing the video_ts.ifo on disc 2 to "Jump to Title 1" makes no difference in that case as it still insist on playing the intro etc
But it works (sadly only on PC)
My standalone Pioneer 525 (that plays everything I put into it) on this instance gets stuck on the Menu, not displaying anything at all!
Anybody knows how to make it play on standalone?

just did minority report last night (pal).
no problems at all splitting to 2.
i usually rip the film and audio to .m2v and .ac3
then author creating new vobs.
lets say it creates 6 new vobs, i rename 4,5 and 6 to 1,2 and 3 and put them in a different folder with a copy of the other vobs and ifos(excluding the original 1,2 and 3 vobs).
now you have disc 1 which will stop half way through the film, just put second disc in and it carries on without having to use ifoedit to jump to title set. -
So let me get it straight.
You get m2v & ac3 & you re-make the vobs with some authoring proggy, then on disc one you have the "newly created" vobs plus other files from original DVD, and on disc 2 you only have the "newly created" vobs (with what .ifo file?)
How does disc 1 play, if it relies on some data from vts_03_x set?
What about loosing the DTS sound?
You have a working solution, but it is not a 1:1 copy (some got lost on the way)

you are right its not a 1:1 copy, just the film.
but if you did want just the film.
once you have made the new vobs and for example their is 6 main movie vobs.
put the 4,5 and 6 vobs into a different folder and burn the rest, thats your disc 1.
next delete vobs 1,2 and 3 out of the disc1 and put back in the vobs you
took out earlier.
because the vobs are named 4,5 and 6 you will need to rename them to
1,2 and 3.
then burn, thats your disc 2.
hope it helps.

But why to bothe so much as to re-author & loose DTS.
Just copy the movie only in DVD Decrypter & split with ifoedit.
So much easier, if we have to loose the menus anyway
