I am really frustrated. I am tryingto copy 20 or so 200 meg mpg files to a dvd+r using Hp's software... Sonic MYDVD. i have an HP 200i. When i drag the mpg file onto the title screen it says "the file will be converted to be compatible with dvd video". all 20 of these file should easily fit on a standard 4.7 gig dvd+r. Why does it blow these suckers up to 1.4 gigs each?
thanks in advance

Two possibilities:
It does not except the mpeg files as DVD compliant files, and it converts it to bigger DVD compliant mpeg files. Second, it does not except the mpeg encoded audio and converts it to uncompressed wave (PCM) file. It could also be doing both. Only a few DVD authoring programs will allow mpeg encoded audio, like the Ulead Moviemaker. Wave audio is a waste of space, but for some strange reason, it's listed as a requirement for a NTSC DVD. However, I have not seen any DVD players that will not play a mpeg encoded audio DVD.
