  1. Playing a divx file(avi) starts out fine, and I'm sure it'll play all the way through fine. But when I skip to another part of the video, there is a pause or delay. Is there a way to encode to divx and cut out the pausing? Or is that an inherent feature? Thx.

I think your problem is with keyframes. You probably don't have enough keyframes and that's is making your search in your file very time consuming. When you re-encode your file into another .avi, set keyframe value to every 10 seconds.

    Hope That Helps!!! :P

  3. Actually, I did set it like that. What I mean is that when you browse through a VOB file, it's nice and smooth, no pausing when you skip from one part of a chapter to another. When you try to do the same w/ a divx file, there is a slight pause.

From what I can tell, it's an inherent problem with DivX. The file format simply isn't designed with skipping back and forth within the video stream in mind.
