how to covert .avi to .rm?

hei question i currently download a .avi file i want to conver it to VCD format which is the .mpeg format. i look at form it say that i can use the Tmpec something to convert to .mpeg format. but i wonder what about the audio file because i look at the tutorial that convert .avi to .mpeg have to file one is video file and one is the audio file. do i need to use some utilites to extract the audio from the .avi then use with the Tmpeg program in order to covert to .mpeg

Also, how can i convert .avi to .rm. is it the file in .rm format will be smaller and easier to put it in the web. please show me what tools i need thanks you

You don't have to extract audio ...but it is recommended that when using TMPGE you use a uncompressed WAV as the audio source.
