I've heard that there's a risk to using adhesive labels, as they can physically unbalance the disc. Is this still better than writing on the surface of the disc with a permanent felt-tip marker? How do you people label your discs?

I write on the cdr with a TDK CD Mark felt tip pen that is made specifically for that purpose. You can get it at most office supply stores.

I've used the ordinary permanent felt markers on the painted area for years with no problem, they are not the correct marker pens like the TDK but not had any problems in years. 6 for £1
